B&J Smokehouse BBQ is a family-owned barbecue company built on experience, faith, and a passion for serving others.

Founded by Bobby and Judy Dunning, B&J Smokehouse represents more than great food — it represents decades of dedication to hospitality, leadership, and community service. Bobby brings over 45 years of experience in the food industry, beginning his career as a fry cook in a local restaurant before working his way into management and eventually multi-unit leadership roles.

After spending 30 years with Wendy’s as both a Franchisee and Operator, Bobby retired and chose to pursue a lifelong dream of building a business rooted in quality food and genuine customer service.

Bobby and Judy have been married for 32 years and are the proud parents of five children — four daughters and one son. The name B&J stands for Bobby & Judy, the heart and foundation of the business.

In 2020, the Dunnings launched B&J Smokehouse BBQ in Lafayette, Louisiana. Shortly afterward, Southwest Louisiana experienced several devastating storms that heavily impacted the Lake Charles area. During this difficult time, B&J Smokehouse partnered with Word of Hope Family Worship Center to help prepare and serve meals to families in need.

The overwhelming encouragement and positive feedback from the community during this period confirmed their purpose and inspired the continued growth of the B&J Smokehouse brand.

Today, B&J Smokehouse BBQ proudly serves Southwest Louisiana through food-truck service, catering, and special events. Every meal is prepared with care, using quality ingredients, time-honored cooking methods, and a commitment to excellence.
